About Me

My Experience

Being present and a support to others has always been an important value of mine.  I took this value and had my first job in the mental health field working as a resident assistant at residential facility to support folks working on recovering from addiction. I sat with clients through late nights, withdrawals, to new refreshing mornings and renewed body connection.  I was able to observe the shifts at how many small holistic changes can accumulate, and how therapy helped client's maintain that growth.

This experience taught me that I wanted to be part of the therapy process, so I went to San Diego State to get my Masters of Science in Counseling in the MFT program.  I am forever grateful to my cohort who supported me and helped me become the clinician I am today. The coursework often held intersectionalities and awareness of systemic oppression, mindfulness of historically oppressed communities and how to be a therapist who holds these intersectionalities carefully during therapy work.

It's been a gift to walk alongside so many different folks with different backgrounds and life experiences.  I've done a lot of my therapy work with folks from the LGBTQ+ community and people who have polyamorous or ENM lifestyles.  I also have worked with many historically marginalized community members of the global majority.  It's important that you feel seen, understood, supported, and able to speak about these experiences in therapy.  I strive to remain aware and accountable for how my intersectionality shows up in the room.

Outside of seeling my labor as a therapist, I deeply enjoy quality time with friends, nature (all photos on my website are mine), hiking, yoga, rock climbing, and constant humor and shennanigans.

Education

I had the privilege of completing my Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University.  I was lucky to train under the supervision, tutelage, and mentorship that helped inform me how to mindfully engage with my chosen role as a therapist.

I have also completed basic training of Parnell Institute Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (AF-EMDR) and am continuing my guidance and improvement.
